On Thursday, 12th of March, 2026, eight 2nd-year students from Presentation Secondary School, along with their parents/guardians, year head and guidance counsellor, travelled to University College Cork to receive the Cavanagh Achievement Award 2026 as part of the UCC Access Plus Programme.
The Cavanagh Achievement Award was created to recognise the potential, endeavour, and effort of second-year secondary school students. Students are recognised for their effort and achievement in Gaelige, English, mathematics and modern foreign language. The award is designed to encourage students to continue their hard work throughout secondary school. Through the programme University College Cork encourages students to aspire to attend their college and be motivated towards continuing their education at the third level.
Presentation Secondary School Guidance Counsellor Declan Murphy noted that ‘we are so proud of our students for their hard work and dedication to their learning not only today but every day.'
School principal Sally Ronayne extended her congratulations to Ellen, Eve, Lucy Lee, Abbie, Laura, Yu Jie, Ella and Aoibheann, who received awards on the night.
